DHAWANSHI

Hey guys!

It's been long time but here’s a new blogpost.

This post is dedicated to some absolute beauty favourites of mine without which I wouldn’t dare leave my house.

Since I have to rush to college in the morning, I do not apply any makeup but I also cannot leave the house without smacking these products on my face.

Each of these products serve a different purpose and takes up literally just five minutes of my morning. So here’s the whole insight on what my morning routine looks like.

  • Kama Pure Distilled Rosewater

Although it sounds all boujee this is just a normal rose water that I like to spray on my face as it wakes me up right away in the morning. I’m not sure if it really does anything but I enjoy spraying it on my face.

  • Embryolisse Les Hydrants

This is a moisturiser that I found works the best for me. It is such a versatile product as you can use it as a moisturiser, makeup primer, makeup remover and a hydrating mask. Also the best part about it is that it suits all skin types, from oily to dry and sensitive. This just gives me the right amount of hydration to my face without making my face feel sticky. It also gives me the perfect glow which is always welcomed.

  • Kiehil’s creamy eye treatment

Okay so for some reason I have really dry eyelids. I’m not a fan of my lids shedding skin like a snake and so I ended up trying a few eye creams until I managed to stick with this one. This one  is really thick and extremely hydrating. I’ll admit that it makes my eyelids feeling a bit sticky but I can over look that with the rightful purpose that it serves.

  • Lotus Safe sun UV screen Matte Gel

This is inspired from my mom’s routine, I had a really ignorant attitude towards using sunscreens  until I watched my mom use it every single day. Now I do not skip a day of wearing this stuff. One difference that I have noticed is that my skin looks less dull by the end of the day.
I loves this one as it’s gel formulated hence it doesn’t leave that ugly white cast on your skin that most sunscreens do, hence works well underneath make up too.

So here’s a very real morning routine which hardly takes away few minutes off your morning giving you extra minutes of sleep which we all love.

Thank You!

Hey guys!

This is a post written by my bestie, Niharika, who is owns the most amazing blog: themonochromaticblog.com and I just thought of asking her to feature on my blog. Read along to find out her tips on how to maintain your skin after recovering from acne. Also scroll till the end of this page to find her blog link and social medias.

~

I have dealt with acne since I was 11 or 12. It started on my forehead and then eventually made its way over to the rest of my face with time. I tried every homemade remedy in the book and couldn’t get rid of it completely. I finally resorted to medication. I went to my dermatologist every month and bought expensive acne treatments and medications.
If you have spent a lot of money in trying to control or get rid of your acne, the least you could do is make sure you maintain your skin so you don’t have to go through all of that again. Here are the top 3 rules I swear by to maintain my skin even on the most challenging hormonal days!

  1. Don’t touch your face!
No popping pimples! No self-extracting whiteheads and blackheads! No scratching face! Do NOT pick at your face because it may seem like just one little white head or just one little spot on your face but the next thing you know, you see another one and another one and another one. I cannot stress how good and clean my face feels and looks when I leave it alone for even a couple days!
My face gets itchy often as I have combination skin but when you scratch your face it may just seem a little affected at the time but you could end up leaving scratches on your face and scarring or causing acne marks to be left behind.

  1. Eat healthy and drink a ton of water!
I don’t think diet has an instant effect on my skin in terms of increasing acne, but I know it affects a lot of people. However, eating healthy does improve my skin significantly. I notice when I eat a lot of fruits, my skin is a bit more glowy and feels healthy. I recently went on a one-week smoothie diet where I would drink a smoothie a day (along with the normal 3 meals of the day) and I just felt so good inside and out.
I also drink a lot more water when my skin starts acting up. The more you hydrate, the better your skin will look and the more healthy you will be from the inside too!

  1. Pamper yourself!
Washing your face every day has been spoken about by everyone. But put on a face mask once in a while, or make one out of organic ingredients you can find in your home! Give your skin some extra love to help it regenerate faster. Even though a face mask or a face wash/cleanser won’t necessarily remove existing acne, it will clean your skin and give it the moisture/nutrients it needs and will make your skin look better. Pampering your skin the right way will help prevent more breakouts too!

At the end of the day, self-care is the most important. You need to feel happy on the inside and on the outside so do whatever you think your skin needs and look at the bigger picture to avoid damaging your skin because of in-the-moment decisions!

Hey there lovely people!

I’m back again with another blog post. I love make up and trying on different looks but I believe that a good skin care routine is the first step to your makeup application. I love to pamper my skin and what is a better way than applying some face masks while going through a whole season of Sex and the City and winding up the day.
Anyways here are my 3 favourite face masks that I use at least once a week.

The body shop Tea tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask

I’ve loved this since the day one. I’m a huge fan of the whole tea tree range by The Body Shop and it only made sense for me to try this one out. Many people had been raving about this and claimed that it really works for acne prone skin and I thought I’ll give it a try.

You’re supposed to apply it for 5-10 minutes as instructed, and rinse it off with water or just wipe it off with some wet cloth.

Let me just say this you’ll feel some cooling sensation the first few seconds of applying it and later on it’ll burn a little, but that’s just how it works. This just happens the very first time you apply it.

After rinsing it off, I didn’t notice any big difference with my acne however I had a few very stubborn white heads and badly clogged pores on my chin which just disappeared completely. Believe me I’ve tried so many things to get rid of them but nothing ever worked. I did not see this coming but I was insanely impressed. Now regarding acne, they don’t obviously magically disappear after using this mask but they do dry up which is great as the going away and healing process of the acne will be much quicker. This mask does dry up your skin after rinsing so you might just want to apply a good moisturizer right after.

KAMA Ayurveda Nimrah Anti Acne Face Pack

I really enjoy using ayurvedic products as they’re 100% organic and won’t show any side effects. This mask comes in a powder consistency and you can add water or even rose water if you want to feel more boujee and pack it all over your face for 15-20 mins followed by rinsing it with water.

This mask really helps clean my skin, it does dry up some of my acne but nothing noticeable. I use this mask when my face needs something extra to make it feel clean and a little alive. You can use it when you’re tired of using a face wash to clear off the dirt from your face which you built up over the day and just want to amp up your night routine a notch.

Innisfree & The Face Shop Sheet Masks

These are some of the first ever sheet masks I had ever tried. For me personally the only function that sheet masks carry are of hydration. I don’t really notice any other difference after using them. Don’t get me wrong, hydration is a really important step in your skin care and that is why I included this in the list. I love the boost of hydration these masks give and they make your skin so soft and hydrated, also they just feel so relaxing I can wear them anytime, but mostly after I’ve used the two masks mentioned above. The best thing is that these are really cheap, you can buy them for 100-150 bucks on Nykaa.

Hey guys!
Hygiene to me is extremely important and the thought of dirty brushes touching my face makes me gag. If you’re spending so much on that cream then why not invest a little time and money on keeping your makeup brushes clean?
Your face has really sensitive skin, and unclean brushes are breeding sites for bacteria and looking at it this is not that great of a combination.

Here are things I use/do to keep my brushes clean.

DIY brush cleaner
This step is to deep clean your brushes which you do at least once a week or 2 times a month depending on how often you apply your makeup. I just use a mixture of baby oil and baby shampoo/baby wash. I soak my brush in the mixture and run the bristles of the brush over the palm of my hand or this silicone brush cleanser that I bought from nykaa. I prefer using the silicone brush cleanser as using your hands to clean too many brushes would make your hands dry and irritated. Just rinse off after you’re done cleaning them.

MAC Brush Cleanser
This is one of the best product ever, especially for a person like me who likes things to be clean and perfect all the time. I use this to clean my brushes immediately after I use them. I just pour a little bit of this product on a clean napkin and rub my brush over it until it is clean. This also comes in handy when you want to use the same brush for two or more purposes and you have to clean up the debris of the previous product.

The MAC one is obviously quite expensive and instead you can buy:-

NYX on the spot makeup brush cleaner spray: http://www.nykaa.com/nyx-professional-makeup-on-the-spot-makeup-brush-cleaner-spray.html?ptype=product&id=190778

PAC brush cleaner: http://www.nykaa.com/pac-brush-cleaner-2-minute-cleaner.html?ptype=product&id=82267

There are many more brush cleaning products which you can find in stores or online, although these are the ones that I use. Buy the ones that fit your necessities and you're good to go.
I hope this post was helpful.

Thank you!

Hi guys!
This post is kinda in continuation with my previous post which is about my Skin care routine. The following are my all time favourite hair products.

Organix shampoo and conditioner

Now I’ve tried various scents under this company and these two have stuck by me. Out of all the things that I love about their shampoos and conditioners, the fact that they are organic catches my eye the most. My hair went dry after getting them coloured, and so I wanted to relieve them of all the chemical damage I had been doing hence I switched to this organic option. My hair look live and hydrated after using this duo. My second favourite part about their products is the scent. It doesn’t have that typical chemical smell that all the shampoos and conditioners have, I’m extremely sensitive to those bugging smell, as they don’t fail to give me a headache. However the smell that these shampoos and conditioners carry is so earthy I could smell my hair all day :P

Toni & Guy Heat Protector

This is the only heat protector that I’ve been using since a few years now. It does a fair job with heat protection but the thing that I love about it is that since my I have silky hair, curls don’t stay for more than a minute. This heat protector makes my hair a little rough after the application giving enough grip to let the curls survive.

Toni & Guy Shine Gloss Serum

I only use this during special occasions when my hair seems to look like a mess and I don’t have enough time to style them or that I’m just feeling lazy to style them. I’ve tried a few serums but they never do what they claim. This one gives a perfect, healthy shine to my hair and makes them look like I’ve put some efforts into styling my hair.

Hey guys!
Yes I’m alive! It has been a real long time since I have been active here (As if it isn’t obvious :P). I have just been caught up with life and all that boring stuff. I really missed creating my own content and doing something that I’m so proud and passionate about. To sum all that up I’m back… I guess..
So I’ve been really into skin care and body products off lately. Here are some of my favourite products which I have been using and have given me beneficial results.

St Ives exfoliating body wash
Oh my god! This is the best ever body wash that I’ve ever used. It has really tiny exfoliating beads that gently exfoliate your skin just enough to remove the dead skin and not make your skin dry. Along with this it has an organic fruity smell unlike many chemical like smelling products which I absolutely despise.

The Body Shop Tea Tree facial wash
I have been using this since a very long time now and it has really helped me with my acne and oily skin. I highly recommend this face wash if you have very oily skin and nothing seems to help but for those with mild oily skin to dry skin it’ll make your skin really dry as tea tree oil has drying effects, so you shouldn’t be using this.

St. Ives Apricot Scrub
This scrub is like a gift from god. It exfoliates your skin removing your dead cells and all the dirt on your face making it clean and soft. I use this alternating days but you can use it once a week or so depending on the needs of your skin.

Neutrogena Oil free moisture for combination skin
This is an amazing non-scented moisturiser for oily skin. It is non-comedogenic meaning it won’t clog the pores on your skin which is important for oily skin. I use this everyday and is a staple after using the face scrub.

Palmer’s Coco Butter lip balm & Dior Lip Glow Reviver Balm

These two products are my holy grail. I can’t imagine my life without these. The palmer’s coco butter lip balm is highly hydrating for my awfully chapped lips. The Dior reviver balm is not as hydrating but gives a natural pink tint to my lips which slowly builds up after I’ve put it on. I usually apply the dior lip balm over palmer’s coco butter giving me the perfect hydration and tint.

Recently I had been on a vacation to South Africa and I bought some stuff from the duty free shops at the airport so I thought what’s better than doing a haul about it? Here are all of my recent purchases that include some make up and beauty products. Hope you all enjoy it.

  • NARS Pressed Powder in the shade “valley”

I had bought this pressed powder at the Dubai duty free shop  for $35. Now I know this is a few shades darker than my skin but I am planning to use it as a bronzer. I could’ve bought the actual bronzer but first of all I wanted to buy a NARS product and secondly the bronzer they have has shimmer in it which I absolutely dislike. Hopefully this works.

  • Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in “Original”

I’ve always wanted this eyeshadow primer and  was finally able to buy it after many years of waiting. I love trying out different eye looks and hate it when the eyeshadow wears off after few hours. I bought this from the Dubai duty free for $22. I’m so excited to use this product I could burst.

  • The “Eau Vive” perfume from Chance collection by Chanel

This was the only thing that I bought from the Johannesburg duty free. It was one of my most anticipated purchases too. I am in love with its scent. I’m bad at describing scents so click the links below to get a more vivid description about the way it smells.

  • Charcoal face mask from Propshop24.com

This is the only item I bought from India. I had actually ordered it a few days before my trip from propshop24.com but got it just a day before I landed here and so I thought of including this too in my haul. This is not a peel off charcoal face mask. You have to keep it on for a few minutes and then rinse it off with water. I have quite a few pores on my skin and hence to clear them out I thought of trying out this charcoal face mask. The link to buy it is here.

The good news is that this is a lazy girl night routine. Being lazy and also having tonnes of acne can be a pain in the butt hence I came up with this three step routine which you can follow every night before going to bed.

The products that I use are:

  • The Body Shop tea tree face wash – Rs. 695
  • The Body Shop tea tree oil – Rs. 695
  • Sephora Moisturizing Body Lotion – Rs. 800

I know that these products are overpriced but I don’t like to compromise the quality of my products when it comes to my face. Also I have tried hundreds of face wash for my stubborn acne and found this one to actually work on my skin however you can use any face wash that suits your skin. About the body lotion that I’m using on my face, I don’t have any facial moisturizer and I’m too lazy to hunt for a good moisturizer therefore here I am embarrassing myself on my blog. You can use any moisturizer that you like. Anyways I present to you this lazy girl approved night routine for acne prone skin.

Step 1

Wash your face thoroughly using the face wash. Make sure your face has no greasy feel after rinsing. Not keeping your face clean is one of the causes of acne as it provides suitable conditions for bacteria to grow. This is a key step to get good results.

Step 2

This is the most important step. Take few drops of the tea tree oil using cotton or a cotton swab and press it gently on your pimples. Make sure you do not apply it anywhere else since tea tree oil is used to dry the pimple hence if you apply anywhere else it will end up drying your skin. If you feel the tea tree oil is very strong you can dilute it using coconut oil.

Step 3

As I mentioned above that tea tree oil is used to dry out pimples. It will tend to dry out your skin. Also since we got rid of the natural oils of the face by using face wash it is now time to moisturize your skin. Take some good facial moisturizer and evenly apply it to your face. If you’re feeling extra lazy you can even add a few drops of tea tree oil to your moisturizer and apply the mixture to your face hence skipping the 2nd step.

Note: Do not expect to notice any changes immediately after 2-3 days. It will take few weeks to see visible results. I will however not say that this has given me 100% results but I can surely say that it has reduced my acne by a greater extent and using the moisturizer has in fact made my skin softer. You can never completely get rid of acne without making changes to your diet, but that is a whole new story. Stay tuned if you want to learn more about tips to get rid of acne. Please share and help more lazy fellas out.
